I am painting my upstairs and came down to get my quart of dark brown to do the accent......I got back up to the top of the stairs and the darn can just jumped out of my hand !! I have no idea what happened !! It was like watching it in slow motion......bouncing on each stinking step all the way down splattering all the way down. It's everywhere......I'll never get that out of my rug and would you believe it landed down stairs in my living room under my couch and it splattered under the couch across the rug to the other side! I'm just sick! I can't get this clean!

OOOHHH, Teresa I'm so sorry! I would "google" paint clean up on carpet. : (, call a carpet or paint store.
Wish I had a solution for you. I can't even imagine how you must feel. : (
My baby fell down the stairs in our condo when he was about 8 mos. and I know what you are talking about the slow motion and each step!

I went to google and typed in something to the effect of removing water based paint from carpets. the above site is first one that I went to. The next one I tried suggested (if you spilled the whole can) digging out your insurance policy to see if possibly it would cover the accident. Good idea.
since I don't know if you were actually using water or oil based paint, I decided it was past my bed time anyway (2 am here)! But I do wish I could help you!
Good luck!
Thanks so much for your research Connie. I don't know why I got so upset except that because I live alone when something like this happens it just seems much worse than it is. I saw that mess and thought "I can't do this. I can't clean this up" and I didn't think any further than that but Susan came over and we sat down and talked and I felt better after. She said even she couldn't clean it up and she's a mighty clean warrior! I called my insurance and filed a claim and they should be calling me back today or tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'm going to go through with it though because it will be my 3rd claim and my insurance cost will go up 25% which isn't bad but if anything else goes wrong and I have to file again the cost will go up 50% and that would be bad. I have a few questions for the adjuster when he calls so we'll see. I'm sure this will end well one way or another.
My mouth just dropped when I saw this, Teresa I am so very sorry this happened. I hope Connie's suggestions are helpful cuz I have none. I would have said call your insurance but you've done that. I call you soon....I love you.!!!!!!
