Making Memories

Jacob hasn't spent a Friday night with me in a while because he's been so busy. That's ok, I know even though he's only 9 these wonderful Friday nights we have spent together will stop as he gets older.
He did come over last night and was poking around in the kitchen when he found Grandma Clara's cookbook. Probably from the 1800's, this cookbook is torn and tattered and well used. The cover has been missing for many many years now. I still use it though. I have wonderful memories from it, especially of one night at 2 in the morning when Mom, Phyllis and I are decorating Christmas cookies that we had made earlier that day. We must have been so tired because I remember laughing so much and really enjoying the time together. Jacob and I made memories last night. Who would think that a book would bring such fun? We made our cookies and watched a movie. I'm so thankful for the love I see in this little man.

After all the rain that we had and keep on having I did manage to find a cucumber growing and 1 little tiny tomato emerged....the cucumber reminds me of a baby Gerkins...lol

Berry Bushes and Bench

Both my Berry Bushes are planted. Can you see the small one on the left....sure hope it takes off and does well....
also here is the before bench and the after I painted it. I am going put some plants on it and make it decorative so people don't sit on it and get a slat in the tush if it breaks.....

I took this picture to show you what my bud turned into......Wish I could remember the name of the plant. I'll have to ask my neighbor since she has a yellow one just like it...They get real big and needs to be cut back in the fall.
The next picture is obviously of the same bloom but I really like how it came out so I wanted to show you.

Coopers Hawk Came For a Visit

I know these pics are dark but it was 8 pm when this bird decided to come to my bird feeder for his dinner. I think he ate one of my visiting Brown Cow Birds. (I found feathers everywhere on the old tree stump he was sitting on!) Anyway, this looks like a juvenille by his marking. He was kinda big!
