Cathy, Annie, Annie's boyfriend Bobby and I drove up to Brooklyn and had a very nice visit with Mike and Suzanne, and later at their home with Sterling and his wife Barbara. They brought dinner and we had an enjoyable time together dining, knitting, playing backgammon,( Annie and Bobby), doing dishes, admiring their apartment. While we were with Mike, he had his first chemo treatment,. I was glad we were there because we just talked and laughed and hardly noticed . We may go back tomorrow. The hospital was dirty and some of the nurses weren't very careful about germs. I can't do anything about that so God will have to take care of those nasties.

A Few Pics of the Garden
Green beans and cukes climbing up the play gym, Butternut and summer crookneck squash roaming the hills, tomatoes finally getting ripe (nites so cool),parsley proudly waving in the breeze, rosemary standing tall, sounds great, but hasn't actually produced all that much produce yet. Still got a bit of time.

Crockpot Apple Butter
I made this the other day and love it! Is great on toast in the morning or if you have some nice hot biscuits! It tastes too "clovey" right out of the pot but is perfect on toast.
This works really well in a crock pot In pajamas at about 8pm before I settle down for TV at night.I go and peel and slice in chunky slices enough apples to fill my crock put to the top just to where you can put the cover on it. This will be probably close to 4lbs Then add-you can mix several varieties of different apples if you like- 1 3/4 cups sugar - 1 cup apple cider vinigar - 2 teaspoon cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon cloves - 2 tsp vanillaYou can adjust your recipe to your crock pot size. Apple butter is hard to mess up. Once you have all the ingredience you let it cook, right before you go to bed you can take a large spoon and stir and turn your apples if you get up in the middle of the night you can stir again if you like but you let it cook overnight. In the morning as the sweet Apple cinniman aroma permiates your house pour you a cup of coffee and stir the apple butter. Then when it is the consistancy you want taste it. MMMMMMM You can leave it lumpy or smooth. but it is sooo good. To store it if you have made a batch just enough to eat shortly store in a large container and put in the fridge. If you have made enough and want to store for a while. Then You ladel out into clean canning jars in the size you like best, wipe down the rims of the jars then and you put the lids and seals on and turn upside down they should seal. If you have trouble sealing, you want to do the boiling hot water bath in a deep pot for about 5-8 mins then you should be ready to store. If you have not canned before you want to make sure that once the jars have cooled press the lid if it makes a popping sound it is not sealed. So proceed to the hot water bath.

Wood Stove/Cake/Aundi
This is the wood stove that we got from the neighbors, we're laying white rock on top of the dirt and sand next to make it look nicer, and then a nice arrangement of flowers/plants......
I baked this cake cake and filled the middle with strawberry jam, it was gone within a day, I know Teresa doesn't like it that way, Grandma Wright and Aunt Ida always made there cakes with jam/jelly filling but it really was awesome.
Aundi is coming out of a tunnel at Disney.......

Going in My Kitchen
Evil Crack Candy
One skid or packet of saltine crackers (you can use Club crackers too) laid out side by side in a 9 x 13 jellyroll pan or cookie sheet with a little bit of sides on it. The new nonstick Reynolds wrap works like a charm as a pan liner!
One cup of brown sugar1 stick of real butter
1 package of chocolate chipsshopped pecans, peanuts, or walnuts (or not, if you hate nuts)
Lay the crackers down on the lined cookie sheet or pan.Melt the butter in a medium saucepan, and when it's melted add the brown sugar, bring to full boil and cook for exactly 3 minutes and remove from heat.Immediately pour sugar/butter mixture over the crackers making sure to cover them all.Put the crackers into a 400*F oven for 6-7 minutes.Let cool for just one minute and then sprinkle the chocolate chips over, as many or as few as you think you will likeLet them melt for about one minute and then spread over the crackers. Then sprinkle the nuts on top.Let cool - eat. You might as well make another pan because these will be gone in about 15 minu
