Made My Own Washing Detergent

1 1/2 Cups Arm and Hammer Washing Soda

2 Cups 20 Mule Team Borax

1 1/3 bars Fels Napha Heavy Duty Laundry Soap

Makes 5 gals. and you use 1 1/2 Cups for each load.

Tide is just getting way too high priced these days so I thought I'd try this "recipe"

I hope my clothes get clean enough........I ordered these online at "Soaps Gone Buy"

but you can also find them at a ACE or Pathmark.

Hey Pioneer Lady, good for you.I made my own bar soap once. Had to go to a butcher shop for enough fat.Daddy had come to visit. I had saved out a bar for him to try. He seemed eager to try it.Let us know how it works.

Oh ya know....Sue mentioned once that they put whale blubber in soap and I almost got sick. I didn't know that fat is one of the ingredients that goes into soap until she said that.....I've always wanted to make my own soap too. Is there anyway to get out of using blubber or fat??? LOL!

I think you could use Crisco. But not a 100% on that.
